English abstract

The objective of this article is to guide researchers interested in the history of neurology towards the documentation that could be found in the General Archive of the Complutense University of Madrid (AGUCM) related to neurological teaching and research. For this, the work is divided into two parts. The first describes in broad strokes the documentation related to medicine in general that is kept by the AGUCM, in order not only to provide a broad framework that can serve as an indication for other investigations or for deeper inquiries on the subject, but also to understand why these documents they are in this file and not elsewhere, and why the documents you might expect to find do not appear. The second part directly describes the documentation related to neurology that we find in the AGUCM.

Spanish abstract

El objetivo del presente artículo es orientar a los investigadores interesados en la historia de la neurología hacia la documentación que pudiera encontrarse en el Archivo General de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (AGUCM) relacionada con la docencia y la investigación neurológicas. Para ello, el trabajo se divide en dos partes. La primera describe a grandes rasgos la documentación relacionada con la medicina en general que custodia el AGUCM, con el objeto no sólo de proporcionar un marco amplio que pueda servir de indicio para otras investigaciones o para indagaciones más profundas sobre el tema, sino también hacer entender por qué estos documentos están en este archivo y no en otra parte, y por qué los documentos que quizá se esperase encontrar no aparecen. La segunda parte describe directamente la documentación referida a la neurología que encontramos en el AGUCM.
