English abstract
The paper provides an overview of NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) established by University Grants Commission (UGC) in India to evaluate academic, administrative, co-curricular, extra-curricular activities of Universities, Colleges, and other recognized Institutes in India to rank them. Further it explains about Library as a Learning Resource Centre, being one of the key indicators in the NAAC assessment process. The researcher list out some of the major points to be remembered by the libraries for the preparation of NAAC assessment and the significant role of librarians in the whole process of preparation.
