English abstract
Community Information Services is one through which a public library provides community information to members of the community it serves.This paper is examined the relationship between public library and Community Information Services (CIS) in various blocks of Sundarban region, of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal State in India and also discusses Community Library cum Information Centres (CLICs). The study found that most of the libraries and CLICs are not prepared at all for providing community information services and are not satisfying community needs.
