English abstract

The paper explores the concept, history and the growth of MOOCs in the global scenario. It also discusses the Indian initiatives towards MOOC, its challenges and the impact on academic libraries. The role of libraries and librarians in supporting the growth of MOOC in academic libraries also been discussed.
