English abstract

In 1999 the discussion focus at the "Online Information" international meeting – edited by Learned Information – concentrated again on organizational problems linked to information management, promotion and diffusion. The Internet puzzle could be appreciated following the four discussion topics: portals, metadata and XML language, electronic publishing, knowledge management. This last topic – much debated within the framework of Italian enterprises also – was the focus of the Italian Session of the conference: it resulted that, if about KM in Italy we are beginning to discuss much and in some big enterprises (Fiat, Telecom, La Sapienza University etc.) projects are being undertaken in that field, Public Administration and small/medium concerns still have difficulties in considering information as a strategic resource.

Nel 1999 il fuoco delle discussioni al meeting internazionale "Online Information" – organizzato dalla Learned Information – si è ancora una volta concentrato sui problemi organizzativi legati alla gestione, valorizzazione e diffusione dell’informazione. Il puzzle Internet si è potuto apprezzare seguendo i quattro argomenti intorno a cui hanno ruotato gli assi della discussione: portali, metadata e linguaggio XML, editoria elettronica, knowledge management. Quest’ultimo tema – molto dibattuto anche in ambiente imprenditoriale italiano – è stato al centro anche della Sessione Italiana del Convegno: il dato che emerge è che, se di KM in Italia si comincia a discutere molto e in alcune grandi realtà (Fiat, Telecom, Università La Sapienza etc.) si comincia anche a progettare in tal senso, la pubblica amministrazione e la piccola e media impresa stentano ancora a vivere realmente l’informazione come risorsa strategica.
