English abstract

If founding information on the web was impossible so far, now it is more simple and fruitful thanks to search engines shaped as repertoires or subject gateways. This happens for all the fields, in particular for Medicine, the field in which the access to an authoritative information is a priority. A list of what is available is impossible and remains the problem of information overload. And trusting the professional figure of the documentalist is still a need.

Se, fino a poco tempo fa, trovare l'informazione necessaria su Internet era come trovare un ago in un pagliaio, da qualche tempo, grazie ai motori di ricerca configurati come repertori o subject gateways, la ricerca (forse) è obiettivamente più facile e più fruttuosa, anche in relazione al recupero dell'informazione di qualità. Questo naturalmente per ogni disciplina, figuriamoci per la medicina, campo in cui più di ogni altro ci si è spinti a offrire l'accesso all'informazione autorevole. Ma l'elenco di tutto quello che è alla portata di tutti è impossibile; resta il problema di come destreggiarsi nel sovraccarico dell'informazione (information overload). Forse appare necessario affidarsi ancora alla professionalità del documentalista.
