English abstract

This article recovers the history of one of the first public school libraries in the province of Buenos Aires. Its historicity invites us to reflect on the link that libraries can establish with the community. Sustaining over time has been its greatest challenge, but the accompaniment of generations of users who visit it, its greatest strength. The pandemic has not been able to close its doors, through protocols and in a virtual way it continued with its activities. This is the story of a space for everyone where the ties that were woven over the years with the Ramos Mejía community allow the “Almafuerte” library to be recognized today not only as a place for reading but also for meetings. and cultural exchanges.

El presente artículo recupera la historia de una de las primeras bibliotecas públicas escolares de la provincia de Buenos Aires. Su historicidad nos invita a reflexionar sobre el vínculo que las bibliotecas pueden establecer con la comunidad. Sostenerse a través del tiempo ha sido su mayor desafío, pero el acompañamiento de generaciones de usuarios que la visitan, su mayor fortaleza. La pandemia no ha podido cerrar sus puertas, mediante protocolos y de manera virtual continuó con sus actividades. Esta es la historia de un espacio de todas y todos donde los lazos que se tejieron a lo largo de los años con la comunidad de Ramos Mejía, permite que hoy la biblioteca “Almafuerte” sea reconocida no solo como un lugar de lectura sino de encuentros e intercambios culturales.
