English abstract

Objective: The present work aims to map authors and documents that focus or touch on studies of information practices in digital platforms. It specifically aims to: 1) understand why the authors chose the perspective of ―information practices‖; 2) assimilate how this approach can contribute to studies related to the digital universe and to the production of new documentalitys. Methods: The survey was carried out from april to july 2021, in six databases and information sources, namely: BRAPCI, Scopus, Web of Science (WoS), Library and Information Science and Technology Abstracts (LIST), E- LIS and Google Scholar. The search terms used sought to cover digital environments in a broad way, consisting of combinations of the term ―information practice‖ with the terms ―digital platforms‖, ―internet‖ and ―web‖. Results: 24 articles were selected, produced between the years 2003 and 2020, originating in 12 different countries, 15 texts in english and 9 in portuguese, distributed in 18 different journals. The texts were read in full, and their descriptors and main ideas made up a framework for the theme discussions. Conclusions: On the internet and, more specifically, on digital platforms, the subjects practices are influenced by the surroundings. Nevertheless, subjects produce and share values, beliefs and worldviews, being able to intervene and change their surroundings, even when acting digitally and in a network. From this perspective, it is plausible to consider the approach to information practices as a prolific approach for the studies of users in the digital universe, since in an increasingly connected world, it allows the description and interpretation of interactions and relationships experienced with the connections of the subjects

Portuguese abstract

Objetivo: O presente trabalho objetiva mapear autores e documentos que têm como foco ou tangenciam os estudos sobre práticas informacionais nas plataformas digitais. Objetiva, especificamente: 1) compreender por que os autores optaram pela perspectiva das ―práticas informacionais‖; 2) assimilar como essa abordagem pode contribuir para os estudos direcionados ao universo digital e para a produção de novas documentalidades. Metodologia: O levantamento foi realizado no período de abril a julho de 2021, em seis bases de dados e fontes de informação, quais sejam: BRAPCI, Scopus, Web of Science (WoS), Library and Information Science and Technology Abstracts (LISTA), E-LIS e Google Acadêmico. Os termos de busca utilizados buscaram abranger os ambientes digitais de forma ampla, consistindo em combinações do termo ―prática informacional‖ com os termos ―plataformas digitais‖, ―internet‖ e ―web‖. Resultado: Foram selecionados 24 artigos, produzidos entre os anos de 2003 e 2020, com origem em 12 países diferentes, 15 textos em inglês e 9 em português, distribuídos em 18 periódicos diferentes. Os textos foram lidos integralmente, e seus descritores e principais ideias compuseram um quadro referencial para as discussões do tema. Discussões/Conclusões: Na internet e, mais especificamente, nas plataformas digitais, as práticas dos sujeitos são influenciadas pelo meio. Não obstante, os sujeitos produzem e compartilham valores, crenças e visões de mundo, podendo intervir e alterar seu entorno, mesmo quando atuando digitalmente e em rede. Nessa perspectiva, é plausível considerar a abordagem das práticas informacionais como uma abordagem prolífica para os estudos de usuários no universo digital, uma vez que em um mundo cada vez mais conectado, esta permite a descrição e a interpretação das interações e relações experienciadas com as conexões dos sujeitos.
