English abstract

The volume reviews definitions, characteristics, components, typologies, history and applications of hypertexts, with particular attention to their theoretical and practical developments from 1945 to today and their use for the organization of information and in bibliographic and library contexts.

Gli ipertesti sono documenti multilineari, multimediali, granulari, interattivi e integrabili, descrivibili con la teoria dei grafi e composti da più unità informative (nodi) connesse fra loro mediante collegamenti (link) liberamente e indefinitamente percorribili seguendo una pluralità di tragitti diversi. Gli ipertesti sono particolarmente diffusi in ambiente digitale (il Web ne è l’esempio più noto), ma ne esistevano (e ne esistono tuttora) anche di non digitali, come ad esempio le enciclopedie cartacee e i periodici accademici a stampa. Questo volume passa in rassegna definizioni, caratteristiche, componenti, tipologie, storia e applicazioni degli ipertesti, con particolare attenzione ai loro sviluppi teorici e pratici dal 1945 a oggi e al loro impiego per l’organizzazione dell’informazione e in contesti bibliografici e bibliotecari.
