English abstract

The adoption of ChatGPT has revolutionized text reading and generation, replacing basic tasks like text searches with the assistance of natural language Artificial Intelligence (AI). This has led to the emergence of specialized applications like Elicit, which have transformed fundamental bibliographic search and analysis tasks by leveraging open databases like Semantic Scholar. These tools offer advanced functionalities for bibliographic review, though they present certain limitations and risks associated with misuse or lack of critical knowledge. This paper reviews the features and functions of Elicit to practically introduce this tool, while highlighting aspects to consider in order to reduce risks and ensure responsible use.

Spanish abstract

La adopción de ChatGPT ha revolucionado la lectura y generación de textos, reemplazando tareas básicas, como búsquedas de texto, por la asistencia de una Inteligencia artificial (IA) en lenguaje natural. Surgen con ello aplicaciones especializadas como Elicit, que han transformado las tareas fundamentales de búsqueda y análisis bibliográfico apoyándose en bases de datos abiertas como Semantic Scholar. Estas herramientas ofrecen funciones avanzadas para la revisión bibliográfica, aunque presentan ciertas limitaciones, así como riesgos asociados a su mal uso o falta de conocimiento crítico por parte del usuario. En este trabajo se repasan las características y funciones de Elicit para introducir de manera práctica esta herramienta, al tiempo que se subrayan los aspectos a considerar para reducir los riesgos y hacer un uso responsable.
