English abstract

Institutional Repositories serve a crucial role in advancing higher education systems and fostering research and development. The present study examines the impact of Open Access Institutional Repository (OAIR) on scholarly communication within Australian countries. Data were collected from the global Directory of Open Access Institutional Repositories (DOAR) website and analysed and represented in graphical and tabular formats to assess the year-wise growth pattern, nature, disciplines, content, period of existence, and the software used. The study found that out of 84 repositories, the highest number of registrations of repositories took place in the years 2006 and 2019, the majority used DSpace software and are institutional in nature.
