English abstract

This study describes the results of a survey conducted through a questionnaire among 998 students to assess the extent to which the libraries of Tamil Nadu universities were making use of their online public access catalogue (Web OPAC). The study unequivocally demonstrated the necessity of a user education program module and also demonstrate the difficulties that university library users face when searching the Web OPAC. The study found the need for further improvements to help students become proficient users of the web OPAC to enable them to fully utilize its advantages.
