English abstract

This work reflects on the role of the archive in relation to ways of collecting, thinking, and reconstructing the trajectory of eroticism in Argentina. The article is part of a broader research project on the connections between the cultural consumption of films starring Isabel Sarli and mass culture in the second half of the 20th century. The objective is to explore the particularities in practices and strategies related to the search, identification, and accessibility of records from institutional and digital archives. The military dictatorships of the 1960s and 1970s employed notions of “obscenity,” “pornography,” and “morality” to construct an authoritarian and repressive order at the social, cultural, and political levels. Considering these historical conditions, the logic of the archive, the materiality of the records, the methodological precautions, and the social agents involved in the process are examined. Based on fieldwork conducted in various collections, located in both physical and digital spaces, this study engages with a research field concerned with the notions, implications, and future transformations of these representations of the archive in terms of historiographical agendas and the incorporation of technologies into research work. It is observed that there are difficulties in navigating the criteria for safeguarding and organizing, and that these criteria respond to imaginaries and senses of social and cultural classification. It concludes that the archive, as a “moment,” process, and place, is undergoing mutations that involve the production, possession, and protection of documentation, impacting the ways of historical interpretation and addressing new themes and problems.

El presente trabajo reflexiona sobre el lugar del archivo respecto de las formas de coleccionar, pensar y reconstruir el derrotero del erotismo en Argentina. El artículo se ubica en una investigación más extensa sobre los vínculos entre el consumo cultural del cine protagonizado por Isabel Sarli y la cultura de masas en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. El objetivo es explorar las particularidades en las prácticas y las estrategias relacionadas con la búsqueda, la identificación y la accesibilidad de registros provenientes de archivos institucionales y de origen digital. Las dictaduras militares de los años sesenta y setenta emplearon las nociones de “obscenidad”, “pornografía” e “inmoralidad” para construir el orden autoritario y represivo a nivel social, cultural y político. Atendiendo a estos condicionantes históricos, se interrogan las lógicas del archivo, la materialidad de los registros, los recaudos metodológicos y los agentes sociales implicados en el proceso. Con base en el trabajo de campo realizado en diferentes acervos, ubicados en lugares físicos y digitales, se nutre y dialoga con un campo de investigación preocupado por las nociones, implicancias y transformaciones futuras de esas figuraciones del archivo en términos de las agendas historiográficas y la incorporación de tecnologías al trabajo de la investigación. Se observa que existen dificultades para sortear respecto de los criterios para resguardar y ordenar y que éstos obedecen a imaginarios y sentidos de clasificación social y cultural. Se concluye que el archivo como “momento”, proceso y lugar se encuentra atravesando mutaciones que involucran la producción, la posesión y la protección de documentación que impactan en las formas de interpretación histórica, en la atención a nuevos temas y problemas y en los procesos de investigación en ciencias sociales y las humanidades.
