English abstract

The role of vocabularies in integrated access to digital collections is discussed in Memory and Culture in Brazil, inspired by the experience of the Web Museum Network in the state of Rio de Janeiro and the experience reported in international literature. Vocabularies are conceptualized, analyzed, and their different types and formats discussed. In particular, the impact of interconnected open data technologies on the use and development of program-readable vocabularies is discussed. The objective is to propose policies for the adoption and development of vocabularies in Brazil.

Portuguese abstract

Discute-se o papel dos vocabulários no acesso integrado a acervos digitais em Memória e Cultura no Brasil, inspirado na experiência da Rede Web de Museus do estado do Rio de Janeiro e na experiência relatada na literatura nternacional Vocabulários são conceituados, analisados discutidos seus diferentes tipos e formatos. Em especial é discutido o impacto das tecnologias de dados abertos interligados no uso e desenvolvimento de vocabulários legíveis por programas. O objetivo é propor políticas para a adoção e o desenvolvimento de vocabulários no Brasil.
