English abstract

Dr. Eugene Garfield (1925–2017), the pioneering information scientist and founder of the Science Citation Index, remains one of the most influential figures in the history of bibliometrics and scholarly communication. Following his passing in February 2017, the journal Informatics Studies dedicated Volume 4, Issue 2 (2017) as a special memorial issue to honor his life and contributions. The issue entitled ‘Eugene Garfield (1925-2017): Informatician Non Pareil’ edited by Antonella De Robbio and Raman Nair R, honors his life and his scholarly contributions to the advancement of scientific publishing
