English abstract

This presentation explores how AI tools are reshaping the production, evaluation, and dissemination of knowledge. It reviews international guidelines (COPE, WAME, ICMJE, UNESCO) and highlights the Decalogue developed by CAICYT-CONICET as an ethical reference framework. The presentation outlines AI’s opportunities to optimize editorial processes, improve accessibility, and create summaries and outreach materials, while also warning about risks related to bias, transparency, traceability, authorship, and scientific rigor. It concludes by stressing the need for journals to adopt clear editorial policies regulating AI use, supporting authors, editors, and reviewers, and ensuring that these technologies complement —rather than replace— human judgment.

La presentación analiza cómo las herramientas de IA están transformando la producción, evaluación y difusión del conocimiento. Expone lineamientos internacionales (COPE, WAME, ICMJE, UNESCO) y el Decálogo elaborado por el CAICYT-CONICET como marco de referencia ético. Señala las oportunidades de la IA para optimizar procesos editoriales, mejorar accesibilidad, generar resúmenes y materiales de difusión, al tiempo que advierte sobre riesgos asociados a sesgos, transparencia, trazabilidad, autoría y calidad científica. Finalmente, propone que las revistas desarrollen políticas editoriales claras que regulen el uso de la IA y acompañen a autores, editores y evaluadores, asegurando que estas tecnologías complementen —y no sustituyan— el juicio humano.
