English abstract

The book explores the central role of experiments in the teaching and learning of physics, emphasizing their formative importance. The paper argues that the physics laboratory is a unique environment for active learning, where students move from passive memorization of formulas to the discovery and direct verification of concepts. The theoretical foundations of learning through investigation and constructivism are presented, then a variety of experiments are presented — from measuring gravitational acceleration, Ohm's law and damped pendulum motion, to the interference of light, the photoelectric effect and the determination of Planck's constant. The book also discusses the value of virtual laboratories as a complementary support, emphasizing that they can increase the efficiency and accessibility of learning, but cannot completely replace practical experience. The author addresses the impact of experiments on motivation, critical thinking, collaboration and the formation of an integrated scientific vision. The challenges of implementation in the curriculum (limited resources, safety, resistance to change) are analyzed and solutions are offered to overcome them. Overall, the volume is both a practical guide to experiments and a plea for their systematic integration into STEM education.

Romanian abstract

Cartea explorează rolul central al experimentelor în predarea și învățarea fizicii, punând accent pe importanța lor formativă. Lucrarea argumentează că laboratorul de fizică este un mediu unic de învățare activă, unde elevii trec de la memorarea pasivă a formulelor la descoperirea și verificarea directă a conceptelor. Sunt prezentate fundamentele teoretice ale învățării prin investigație și constructivism, apoi o varietate de experimente — de la măsurarea accelerației gravitaționale, legea lui Ohm și mișcarea pendulară amortizată, până la interferența luminii, efectul fotoelectric și determinarea constantei lui Planck. Cartea discută și valoarea laboratoarelor virtuale ca suport complementar, subliniind că acestea pot crește eficiența și accesibilitatea învățării, dar nu pot înlocui complet experiența practică. Autorul abordează impactul experimentelor asupra motivației, gândirii critice, colaborării și formării unei viziuni științifice integrate. Sunt analizate provocările implementării în curriculum (resurse limitate, siguranță, rezistența la schimbare) și oferite soluții pentru depășirea lor. În ansamblu, volumul este atât un ghid practic de experimente, cât și o pledoarie pentru integrarea lor sistematică în educația STEM.
