English abstract

This article aims to expand on a representative framework for the Evidence-Based Medicine Community of Practice (EBMCP), proposed in a previous study. To this end, a theoretical and conceptual analysis is developed that encompasses three aspects: 1) it addresses the theoretical precepts of clinical decision-making in the context of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM); 2) it characterizes the EBMCP as a community of practice according to Etienne Wenger; and 3) it defines and develops the actions and interactions of the EBMCP, its members, and their daily life activities, based on the concept of Information Practices according to the Everyday Information Practices (EIP) model proposed by Reijo Savolainen for the analysis of information behavior in the field of Information Science. As a result, it was possible to understand that the foundations and nature of EBM involve clinical decision-making as a cognitive process, but based on a social constructionist view of reality. Wenger's criteria were applied to clearly identify EBMCP as a community of practice (objective, domain, members, unity, duration, shared practices, communication, size), which was represented in a table. Finally, Reijo Savolainen's concept of Information Practices was developed, applied, and compared with CPMBE, which was also finally represented in a table. This work allowed us to recognize activities that librarians have been developing in the areas of clinical health and research, and demonstrates a significant participatory scope related to EBM and its community of practice.

Spanish abstract

El artículo se presenta con el motivo de ampliar un esquema representativo de la Comunidad de Práctica de la Medicina Basada en la Evidencia (CPMBE), propuesto en una investigación anterior. Para ello se desarrolla un análisis teórico conceptual que abarca tres aspectos: 1) trata los preceptos teóricos de la toma de decisión clínica en el contexto de la Medicina basada en la evidencia (MBE); 2) caracteriza la CPMBE como una comunidad de práctica según Etienne Wenger, y 3) define y desarrolla las acciones e interacciones de la CPMBE, sus miembros, y actividades de la vida cotidiana, en base al concepto de Prácticas de información según el modelo Everyday Information Practices (EIP), propuesto por Reijo Savolainen, para análisis del Comportamiento informativo en el área de la Ciencia de la información. Como resultado, se pudo comprender que los fundamentos y naturaleza de la MBE implica la toma de decisión clínica como un proceso cognitivo, pero basado en una visión construccionista social de la realidad. Se logró aplicar los criterios de Wenger para identificar claramente la CPMBE como comunidad de práctica (objetivo, dominio, miembros, unión, duración, prácticas compartidas, comunicación, tamaño), lo cual fue representado en una tabla. Finalmente, se desarrolló el concepto de Prácticas de información de Reijo Savolainen, aplicado y comparado con la CPMBE, lo cual también fue finalmente representado en una tabla. Este trabajo permitió reconocer actividades que los Bibliotecólogos vienen desarrollando en el área de la salud clínica y de la investigación, y demuestra un importante alcance participativo relacionado con la MBE y su comunidad de práctica.

Portuguese abstract

Este artigo tem como objetivo expandir uma estrutura representativa para a Comunidade de Práticas em Medicina Baseada em Evidências (CPMBE), proposta em estudo anterior. Para tanto, desenvolve-se uma análise teórica e conceitual que abrange três aspectos: 1) aborda os preceitos teóricos da tomada de decisão clínica no contexto da Medicina Baseada em Evidências (MBE); 2) caracteriza a CPMBE como uma comunidade de práticas segundo Etienne Wenger; e 3) define e desenvolve as ações e interações da CPMBE, de seus membros e de suas atividades cotidianas, com base no conceito de Práticas Informacionais, segundo o modelo de Everyday Information Practices (EIP) proposto por Reijo Savolainen para a análise do comportamento informacional no campo da Ciência da Informação. Como resultado, foi possível compreender que os fundamentos e a natureza da MBE envolvem a tomada de decisão clínica como um processo cognitivo, mas com base em uma visão construcionista social da realidade. Os critérios de Wenger foram aplicados para identificar claramente a CPMBE como uma comunidade de prática (objetivo, domínio, membros, unidade, duração, práticas compartilhadas, comunicação, tamanho), que foi representada em uma tabela. Por fim, o conceito de Práticas Informacionais de Reijo Savolainen foi desenvolvido, aplicado e comparado com a CPMBE, que também foi finalmente representada em uma tabela. Este trabalho nos permitiu reconhecer as atividades que os bibliotecários vêm desenvolvendo nas áreas de saúde clínica e pesquisa, e demonstra um escopo participativo significativo relacionado à MBE e sua comunidade de prática.
