English abstract
This study focuses on the ongoing transformation of libraries as a product of social behavior and established paradigms at different historical moments, beginning with the Renaissance. This study analyzes the paradigms established in European academic communities and educational institutions and their impact on libraries, with a particular focus on the situation in Bolivia. Through empirical evidence, the study demonstrates how the theories of the online society (Luciano Floridi) and the liquid society (Zygmunt Bauman) materialize in real- ife contexts. Synthesizing the arguments presented, the following conclusion is reached: libraries today, as has always been the case, reflect current trends in society, and Bolivia is no exception to this reality. Finally, some reflections are presented that could be taken into account to maintain the social and informational role of the library in a context of ongoing technological development. Regarding methodology, documentary analysis and contextualization are used; a case study is also used to explain the Bolivian reality.

El artículo analiza la realidad de las bibliotecas en el contexto de las teorías contemporáneas de Luciano Floridi y Zygmunt Bauman, la sociedad “on line” y la “sociedad líquida” respectivamente. La investigación está motivada por la constatación del uso generalizado de dispositivos móviles y la acelerada transformación de hábitos sociales que repercuten en las bibliotecas. A partir de esta observación, se plantean las siguientes preguntas: ¿De qué manera las bibliotecas, en el contexto de la Sociedad “Online” y la “Sociedad líquida” experimentaron cambios? y ¿Cómo repercuten estas tendencias sociales en Bolivia? Par dar respuesta a las preguntas planteadas se acude a un análisis histórico y un estudio de caso.
