English abstract
Citizen science has emerged as a key component of open science by enabling public participation in research processes. This paper presents a global review of successful initiatives that demonstrate how libraries act as active agents in promoting and implementing citizen science. Drawing on international cases from Europe, Latin America, and beyond, it highlights how libraries contribute through community engagement, data collection, knowledge co-creation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The study emphasizes the evolving role of libraries as inclusive, transgenerational, and transcultural spaces that facilitate scientific participation. It also identifies implementation models, tools, and partnerships that enable sustainable initiatives. The findings underline the strategic value of libraries in strengthening social cohesion, enhancing scientific literacy, and positioning citizen science as a collaborative and impactful practice.
