English abstract

Only some people use the Public Library of their municipality like a resource and a source of intelligence, and this is because the Public Libraries create much frustration in our clients: of course that to greater frustration, minor use and, therefore, greater forgetfulness. If we were not able to be useful, will be very difficult to convince the politicians of the necessity to invest in libraries. To less resources, greater difficulty in designing modern services and of utility and, like consequence, greater frustration in our clients. To understand and to assume this reality and the necessity to act to resist has it a vital importance.

Spanish abstract

Muy poca gente utiliza la Biblioteca Pública de su municipio como un recurso y una fuente de información, y esto es debido a que las Bibliotecas Públicas creamos mucha frustración en nuestros clientes: por supuesto que a mayor frustración, menor uso y, por tanto, mayor olvido. Si no conseguimos ser útiles, será muy difícil convencer a los políticos de la necesidad de invertir en bibliotecas. A menos recursos, mayor dificultad en diseñar servicios modernos y de utilidad y, como consecuencia, mayor frustración en nuestros clientes. Entender y asumir esta realidad y la necesidad de actuar para contrarrestarla tiene una importancia vital.
