English abstract

The history of libraries' automation, beginning from the Library of Congress, shows a strong trend to Information Retrieval more than conservation. The last generation of software covers two main requirements of the document management: the standardized recording of data, so that they can be made compatible, retrieved and spreaded; the integration of data coming from different supports. Alexandrie, a software made in France and distributed in Italy by Ifnet, complies with standardization criteria, flexibility and integration of the supports. A field structure and a window system create archives that can be navigated at the same time. Main characteristics are: the thesaurus construction and the direct production of cd-rom. The sw is particularly suitable for medium size archives.

La storia dell'automazione delle biblioteche, a partire dalla Library of Congress, dimostra una chiara propensione per l'information retrieval più che per la conservazione tout court. L'ultima generazione di software interpreta due fondamentali esigenze del trattamento documentario: archiviare i dati secondo modalità standard perché essi siano compatibili, reperibili e comunicabili; integrare i dati di qualsiasi supporto informativo. Alexandrie, un software made in Francia e diffuso in Italia dalla Ifnet, lavora secondo i criteri della standardizzazione, della flessibilità e integrazione dei supporti. Una struttura per campi e un sistema "a tendine" crea archivi navigabili sincronicamente. Caratteristiche di rilievo sono: la costruzione del tesauro e la generazione diretta di CDRom. Particolarmente adeguato per archivi di media grandezza.
