English abstract

The international collaboration is important at the present scientific research. Latin America, for example, is increasing its production of documents with international responsibility, as well as the amount of institutions implied in this activity. A developed index to measure the international collaboration, taking in consideration the individual institutional participation, reflected an increase positive average in the production of the Latin American investigators. However, the degree of institutional participation varies so much as far as disciplines. The individual institutional participation could become a motivation to extend its performance in the international science. In addition, this one index could be considered like a "indicador of quality" of the national institutional capacity.

La colaboración internacional es un ingrediente importante de la investigación científica actual. Latinoamérica, por ejemplo, está aumentando su producción de documentos con autoría internacional, así como la cantidad de instituciones implicadas en esta actividad. Un índice desarrollado para medir la colaboración internacional, tomando en consideración la participación institucional individual, reflejó un aumento promedio positivo en la producción de los investigadores latinoamericanos. No obstante, el grado de participación institucional varía tanto en cuanto a disciplinas, como con respecto al país latinoamericano en cuestión. La participación institucional individual pudiera convertirse en una motivación para ampliar su desempeño en la ciencia internacional de la región. Además, éste índice pudiera considerarse como un "indicador de calidad" de la capacidad institucional nacional.
