English abstract

Twenty-one obstetricians and gynecologists were surveyed to gather the most useful terminology related to this area of knowledge for the creation of this miniglossary, which will serve as a consulting work for teachers of English, medical students and specialists on this branch of Medicine. This miniglossary is divided into two parts: English-Spanish and Spanish-English. 271 and 191 terms were listed, respectively, and the denominations of forty-two instruments used in this medical field were also included. The present miniglossary constitutes a valuable reference work which can be used for consultation and for teaching English in these disciplines.

Spanish abstract

Con el propósito de crear un miniglosario, que sirva como obra de consulta a profesores y asistentes, con la terminología de empleo más frecuente en Ginecología y Obstetricia en idioma inglés, se encuestaron 21 especialistas de esta área del conocimiento. El miniglosario, dividido en dos partes: inglés-español y español-inglés, quedó conformado por 271 y 191 términos respectivamente. Comprende también las denominaciones de 42 instrumentos utilizados en esta rama de la actividad asistencial. El presente vocabulario constituye una obra de referencia útil, tanto para la consulta como para la enseñanza del idioma inglés en las disciplinas comprendidas.
