English abstract
The periodic medical press in Cuba began in 1940 with the Havanan Medical Repertoire, magazine founded and directed by the illustrious doctor and university professor Cuban Nicholas J. Gutiérrez Hernandez whose contributions to the medicine and the scientific culture in general of the country are due to remember with gratitude. That first publication followed other to him that had few years of life, but for that reason they do not have to be let recognize in its right value, by much which they contributed to the scientific development of the doctors, phamacists and of other professionals dedicated to sciences of the health.
Spanish abstract
La prensa médica periódica en Cuba comenzó en el año 1940 con el Repertorio Médico Habanero, revista fundada y dirigida por el ilustre médico y profesor universitario cubano Nicolás J. Gutiérrez Hernández cuyos aportes a la medicina y a la cultura científica en general del país se deben recordar con gratitud. A esa primera publicación le siguieron otras que tuvieron pocos años de vida, pero no por eso deben dejarse de reconocer en su justo valor, por lo mucho que contribuyeron al desarrollo científico de los médicos, estomatólogos, farmacéuticos y de otros profesionales dedicados a las ciencias de la salud.
