English abstract

The abstracts comprise of the scientific life, because almost all the articles that are published in magazines specialized in the fields of natural sciences, the technology, the information and the medicine go preceded of this important component. It is difficult to find a scientist whom has sometimes not had to write up an abstract. This has caused that is questioned, on the one hand, why his preparation appears within information theory and documentation, if it is an action that apparently anyone can make and, on the other hand, if the abstract has more value done by an expert. Although procedures of evaluation recognized do not exist, that give a categorical and objective answer to this question, the certain thing is that the preparation of abstract is a work that internationally has been reserved to the specialists in information, considering that they constitute the suitable personnel for it.

Los resúmenes forman parte de la vida científica, pues casi todos los artículos que se publican en revistas especializadas en los campos de las ciencias naturales, la tecnología, la información y la medicina van precedidos de este importante componente. Es difícil encontrar un científico que alguna vez no haya tenido que redactar un resumen. Esto ha hecho que se cuestione, por una parte, por qué su confección figura dentro de la teoría de la información y la documentación, si es una acción que aparentemente cualquiera puede realizar y, por otro lado, si tiene más valor el resumen hecho por un experto que el escrito por un lego. Aunque no existen procedimientos de evaluación reconocidos que permitan dar una respuesta categórica y objetiva a dicha interrogante, lo cierto es que la preparación de resúmenes es una labor que internacionalmente se ha reservado a los especialistas en información, por considerarse que constituyen el personal idóneo para ello.
