English abstract
Most library information systems have local library record database. These library information systems can form library network that could incorporate all local library record databases. In this case, it would be necessary to implement virtual central catalogue for the library records in order to enable search over those incorporated databases. One implementation of the central catalogue could be done using the distributed components technology. Consequently, library record database search could be performed by the specialized distributed software components – software agents. For each library server there is one software agent that is capable of searching in the database. Query issued to the central catalogue is distributed to all agents, and then all of them execute that query simultaneously. All query results are incorporated into one joint result that is presented in the central catalogue.

Većina bibliotečkih informacionih sistema formiraju lokalnu bazu bibliografskih zapisa. Sistem bibliotečke mreže može se formirati nad skupom lokalnih baza bibliografskih zapisa. U ovom slučaju bilo bi korisno formirati virtualni centralni katalog tih bibliografskih zapisa. Jedan predlog ovakvog centralnog kataloga zapisa može se realizovati u tehnologiji distribuiranih softverskih komponenti. To znači da je pretraga po distribuiranim bazama zapisa poverena specijalizovanim distribuiranim softverskim komponentama – softverskim agentima. Za sva-ki bibliotečki server angažuje se odgovarajući softverski agent koji pretražuje bazu zapisa. Upit iz centralnog kataloga se prosleđuje svim angažovanim softverskim agentima i svi oni paralelno obavljaju pretragu po lokalnim bazama zapisa. Rezultati rada softverskih agenata se sakupljaju u centralnom katalogu i prikazuju kao jedinstven rezultat.
