English abstract
With redesig of their services modern libraries fullfill more educational needs and stand as stronger and more important players in area of education, especially virtual education. First part of this paper deals with influence of libraries on educational processess and quality of e-learning and distance learning. Second part presents "Virtual classroom", a project of National and University Library, Zagreb, Croatia. Reasons for development of this program as well as its content and new services are described. National and University Library has started its way towards online education but other possible services and ways of interaction among library and information systems and online educational processes needs to be considered.

Suvremene knjižnice preoblikovanjem svojih usluga zadovoljavaju sve veće obrazovne potrebe te zauzimaju sve čvršći i važniji položaj u obrazovnim okruženjima, osobito ako su ona virtualne prirode. Prvi će se dio rada osvrnuti na djelovanje knjižnica na obrazovna okruženja, a posebno će biti prikazan njihov utjecaj na funkcioniranje i kvalitetu sustava e-učenja ili učenja na daljinu. U drugom će dijelu rada biti predstavljen projekt Virtualne učionice NSK, navedeni razlozi za oblikovanje tog programa te opisani sadržaji i koncepcijske odrednice te nove i jedinstvene knjižnične usluge. Članak zaključuje da je Nacionalna i sveučilišna knjižnica doduše zakucala na vrata online edukacije, no kako je potrebno preispitati ostale oblike potencijalne interakcije između knjižnično-informacijskih sustava i online obrazovnih okruženja.
