English abstract

This presentation illustrates open access strategies to scholarly literature, strategies which aim at reaching the widest dissemination of research results and their free use through independent channels (although complementary to the commercial ones). Self-archiving of peer-reviewed scholarly papers into electronic Open Archives and the publication of open access journals indeed represent the tools indicated by the Budapest Open Access Initiative, tools through which the paradigm of open access can be fulfilled. Moreover this presentation offers a brief overview of Italian initiatives for Open Access, including the recent Messina Declaration.

L'intervento si propone di illustrare le strategie dell'accesso aperto alla letteratura scientifica pensate per garantire la piu' ampia disseminazione dei risultati delle ricerche e la loro libera fruizione attraverso canali indipendenti anche se complementari ai circuiti commerciali. L'auto-archiviazione dei contributi scientifici peer-reviewed negli Archivi aperti elettronici e la pubblicazione di riviste open access costituiscono, infatti, gli strumenti indicati dalla Budapest Open Access Initiative attraverso i quali realizzare il paradigma dell'accesso aperto. La presentazione offre inoltre una breve panoramica delle iniziative italiane per l'Open Access, ivi compresa la recente Dichiarazione di Messina.
