Abstract(s)

Disaster planning covers all actions which aim to keep the negative effects of disasters in minimum and to protect whole resources of the society against disasters. A vital records program and a disaster plan, the two basic elements of records management, are important tools which can be used at information centers during disaster planning process. In this paper, after examining characteristics of these tools and their benefits for information centers, a general evaluation of disaster planning in information centers in Turkey is provided and suggestions are offered. Afet planlaması toplumu oluşturan tüm birimlerde afetin yol açacağı zararların en düşük seviyede kalmasını ve sahip olunan her türlü kaynağın en iyi koşullar içinde muhafaza edilmesini sağlamak amacı ile yapılması gereken eylemleri kapsamaktadır. Belge yönetimi programının önemli iki unsuru olan yaşamsal belge programı ve afet planı, bilgi merkezlerinde afet planlama sürecinde yararlanılabilecek önemli araçlardır. Bu çalışmada söz konusu iki aracın özellikleri ve bilgi merkezlerine sağlayacağı yararlılıklara değinildikten sonra, Türkiye’de bilgi merkezlerine ilişkin afet planlaması konusunda genel bir değerlendirme yapılmakta ve bu doğrultuda öneriler sunulmaktadır.
