English abstract
It's some years that in library automation field we discuss about using metalanguage XML to represent catalographic records. XML applied to MARC formats was the topic of some presentations during WLIC World Library and Information Congress held in Oslo in August 2005. UNIMARC and Information Technology IFLA sections organized the session called “MARC/XML derivates: the state of the art”. The four speakers at the session provided the state of the art about UNIMARC Manual in XML, MARCXML - MarcXchange - UNIMARC/XML metadata schemas, and Z39.50 - SRW - SRU protocols.
