Abstract(s)

Web indicators can be used for measuring both the formal and informal scholarly communication. They are especially suited for describing the academic activity at the level of institutions and organizations. results published by several authors showed a positive correlation with other bibliometric-based indicators, suggesting that both techniques could be used jointly for describing and evaluating research activities. Current web data suggest there is an important digital divide that only can be solved with a generalized adoption of the Open Access initiatives.

Los indicadores Web miden tanto los aspectos formales como informales de la actividad académica e investigadora. Son especialmente indicados para la descripción de la actividad de instituciones. Se correlacionan y complementan los resultados obtenidos con indicadores bibliométricos. Los resultados preliminares sugieren la existencia de una importante “brecha digital”. La respuesta es una política amplia de publicación en la Web, asumiendo iniciativas del tipo “Open Access”.
