English abstract

This essay talks briefly about some negative effects the copyright system has on the production, acquisition, distribution, access and use of documental information in general and in libraries in particular. Some of its arguments are based on the book: THE COPY/SOUTH DOSSIER: Issues in the economics, politics, and ideology of copyright in the global South, written, and published by the international Copy/South Research Group.

Este ensayo trata en forma breve de algunos aspectos negativos del copyright en la producción, acopio, distribución, acceso y uso de la información documental y el conocimiento en general y en las bibliotecas en particular. Algunos de sus argumentos están fundamentados en el libro: EL DOSSIER COPIA/SUR: Asuntos en disputa sobre economía, política e ideología de los derechos de autor en el Sur Global.
