English abstract

To contribute to the analysis of the situation, evolution and effects of the R+D activity in the autonomous community of Galicia (northern Spain) for the different areas of knowledge is one of the objectives branching from the Consortium of University Libraries of Galicia. To this end, among other necessary actions, we must retrieve data available on scientific output by Galician research personnel, and from there, through the elaboration of indicators, to establish the conditions existing among efforts, disciplines, organisations, territory, etc. For this reason, the Consortium of University Libraries of Galicia took the initiative of promoting an analysis of the state of the art of research in Galicia through the study of scientific indicators, in order to determine the present situation as well as its evolution since the year 1990. The main objective is to measure the situation of Galicia insofar as the generation of new knowledge and its relationship with investment efforts by analysing socioeconomic indicators that describe the situation of the resources invested in R+D; indicators of output that describe quantitative aspects of research activity; indicators of impact, showing the visibility of work within the scientific community; and indicators of collaboration with other Spanish autonomous communities and in the international realm.

Contribuir al análisis de la situación, evolución y efectos de las actividades de I+D en Galicia en las distintas áreas de conocimiento es uno de los objetivos que se plantean desde el Consorcio de Bibliotecas Universitarias de Galicia. Para eso es necesario, entre otras acciones, recopilar los datos disponibles sobre producción científica del personal investigador gallego, y a partir de ellos a través de la elaboración de indicadores establecer las condiciones existentes entre los esfuerzos, las disciplinas, los organismos, el territorio, etc. Por todo esto, el Consorcio de Bibliotecas Universitarias de Galicia planteó la iniciativa de promover un análisis del estado de la investigación en Galicia a través de un estudio de indicadores científicos con la finalidad de conocer la situación actual y su evolución desde el año 1990. El objetivo fundamental es medir la situación de Galicia en cuanto a generación de nuevo conocimiento y su relación con el esfuerzo inversor, a través del análisis de indicadores socioeconómicos que describen la situación de los recursos invertidos en I+D; indicadores de producción que describen aspectos cuantitativos de la actividad investigadora; indicadores de impacto que describen la visibilidad dentro de la comunidad científica, y de indicadores de colaboración con otras comunidades españolas y en el contexto internacional.
