English abstract

The evolution of metric information disciplines, up to their insertion in the digital environment is examined. Some of the characteristics of Internet, the World Wide Web and the scientific communication in the Web that enable such insertion are undertaken. Some of the main applications of the cybermetric and webmetric studies are analyzed, from the use of private indicators, and their relation with those employed in traditional metric information studies is analyzed.

Se examina la evolución de las disciplinas métricas de la información hasta su inserción en el entorno digital. Se abordan algunas de las características de Internet, el World Wide Web y la comunicación científica en el Web que posibilitan dicha inserción. Se estudian algunas de las principales aplicaciones de los estudios cibermétricos y webmétricos, a partir del uso de indicadores particulares y se analiza su relación con los indicadores empleados en estudios métricos tradicionales de la información.
