English abstract

ISRO Satellite Centre regularly conducts annual technical workshop in Kannada on a popular topic and publishes the proceedings to popularize space science and technology among common man, rural students and public. In addition, many engineers and scientists in the organization write popular science/ technology articles in Kannada. Library, having started building a collection of popular science and technology books in Kannada since 1995, has extended support for these authors by providing appropriate meanings of technical terms in Kannada. In the process, a bilingual dictionary of technical terms in space science and technology has evolved in the form of a database. This database is not only periodically updated and widely distributed among potential and existing authors seeking their cooperation/ interaction to standardise, but also published as a dictionary of technical terms and distributed to schools, public libraries and other organizations committed to popularise science and technology so as to reach needy students, science writers and public. This can also be seen on library home page on LAN and also on Kannada site of the organization on Internet.

ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಶಬ್ಧಕೋಶ ದತ್ತಾಂಶವನ್ನು ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಕಮ್ಮಟಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಪಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಲೇಖಕರು ತಮ್ಮ ಲೇಖನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲು ಕೋರುತ್ತಾ, ನೂತನ ಪದಪ್ರಯೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳವಡಿಸಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಗಮನಕ್ಕೆ ತರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೋರುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಇದರ ಪರಿಷ್ಕರಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಾಣಿಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಲಹೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸದಾ ಸ್ವಾಗತ. ಇದನ್ನು ಇಂಟ್ರಾನೆಟ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯದ ಹೋಮ್ ಪೇಜ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಇಂಟರ್ನೆಟ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ವೆಬ್ಸೈಟ್ನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು. ೨೩/೧೧/೨೦೦೭ ಎಂ ಎಸ್ ಶ್ರೀಧರ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಠರು, ಗ್ರ್ರಂಥಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಲೇಖನ ವಿಭಾಗ ಇಸ್ರೋ ಉಪಗ್ರಹ ಕೇಂದ್ರ.
