English abstract

The objective of this document is review the importance to organize information across the history and also to describe the ways they do. This research describes Chinese, Egyptian and Indian civilizations. And then it defines dates and information which are referents un the modern world. Principal conclusion is that humanity had had the challenge to the activity of organize or not organize dates and information and the way to do. Nowadays information is growing so fast and professionals of information must take the challenge to find the best ways to offer best information services taking care different realities such politics, economics, social and cultural aspects.

Spanish abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es revisar la importancia de organizar la información a través de la historia, así como también describir las formas para llevar a cabo dicha organización. Se hace para ello, un recorrido por las civilizaciones china, egipcia e india. Posteriormente se abre paso a la descripción de definiciones tales como datos, información y conocimiento, mismos que funcionan como referentes en el mundo moderno. Se concluye entre otras cosas, que ante el inminente crecimiento de los volúmenes de información y la diversidad de sus formatos, el profesional bibliotecario siempre tendrá el reto de cómo administrar bajo las mejores condiciones a su materia prima (administración de información) y ofrecer, de esta manera, servicios mejor integrados con su realidad y entorno político, económico, social, cultural
