El trabajo analiza la problemática de la investigación especializada en el conocimiento de los bienes que conforman el fondo antiguo de la biblioteca, para determinar las características de la salvaguarda, difusión y permanencia de un recurso cultural escasamente valorado en México.

The paper analyses the problematic of the specialized research on the knowledge of the goods which conform the ancient collections of the library, in order to determine the characteristics of the treasuring, diffusion and maintenance of this cultural resource scantily valued in Mexico.
