Abstract

The author of the article retraces the history of the World Summit on the information society, held in Geneva in December 2003. Quoting from the Declaration of principals and the Plan of action adopted at the end of the summit, he presents the challenges of WSIS for information professionals, highlighting the North-South divide. He ends by listing the results of the first actions led by libraries on different continents.

L’auteur de l’article rappelle l’histoire du Sommet mondial sur la société de l’information, qui s’est tenu à Genève en décembre 2003. Citant la Déclaration de principe et le Plan d’action adoptés à l’issue du sommet, il présente les enjeux du SMSI pour les professionnels de l’information, en insistant sur l’inégalité entre pays du Nord et du Sud. Il dresse enfin un bilan des premières actions menées sur différents continents par les bibliothèques.

Der Autor des Artikels erinnert an den im Dezember 2003 in Genf abgehaltenen Weltgipfel über die Informationsgesellschaft. Er beruft sich auf die Grundsätze und den Aktionsplan, der am Ende des Gipfels angenommen wurde und erläutert die Herausforderungen des Weltgipfels für die Informationsberufe. Besonders nachdrücklich weist er auf die Ungleichheit zwischen Nord und Süd hin. Schließlich zieht er eine Bilanz der ersten Aktionen, die in der Folge von Bibliotheken auf verschiedenen Kontinenten durchgeführt wurden.

El autor del artículo recuerda la historia de la Cumbre mundial sobre la sociedad de la información, que tuvo lugar en Ginebra en diciembre del 2003. Citando la declaración de principio y el plan de acción adoptados al final de la cumbre, éste presenta los retos del CMSI para los profesionales de la información, insistiendo sobre la desigualdad entre países del Norte y del Sur. Finalmente hace un balance de las primeras acciones llevada a cabo en diferentes continentes por las bibliotecas.
