Da Léonie La Fontaine alla fine dell'Ottocento, a Suzanne Briet negli anni ’30-50, ai siti delle donne in rete della nostra attualità, la documentazione scientifica e tecnica al femminile, coerentemente con gli indirizzi di politica documentaria di Bruxelles, si è posta costantemente l'obiettivo della difesa della persona e delle pari opportunità. Accanto alle pioniere storiche, anche nordamericane, della Biblioteconomia e delle Scienze dell'informazione, vengono rintracciate figure determinanti per l'affermazione oggi delle TIC e, in Italia, protagoniste che hanno aderito per prime al movimento internazionale di Otlet e hanno predisposto il terreno per l’affermazione della Documentazione negli anni '80. L'AIDA dal punto di vista della composizione di genere è proposta come studio di caso e il profilo di una sua fondatrice, Maria Pia Carosella, è colto nel suo specifico professionale e di servizio.

From Léonie La Fontaine, in the last years of the XIX century, to Suzanne Briet in the years '30-'50s, to the sites of women in the Net, the Scientific and Technical women Documentation, in accordance with the addresses of Brussels Documentary Policy, plays an important role for the defense of the person and the equal opportunities. Together with the North-American pioneers in the field of Librarianship and Information Sciences, important figures for the affirmation of the Documentation in Italy are described; protagonists who joined the Otlet Movement and prepared the development of the Documentation in Italy in the '80s. AIDA, from the gender point of view, is proposed as a case study and the profile of one of its founder, Maria Pia Carosella, is outlined.
