Bibliotecas digitales “virtuales”: Colecciones de documentos distribuidas. Web visible: Auto-archivo, depósitos de documentos, buscadores de area Web invisible: Bases de datos, repositorios institucionales y temáticos, revistas electrónicas Internet privada: Consorcios nacionales, regionales e institucionales.

New databases with an increasing coverage has become available for the Spanish researchers, information scientists and librarians. We can consider these new tools as very large virtual library with possibilities never available before. The visible Web is better represented by the new capabilities if the search engines, the deep Web is no longer invisible as Google Scholar and Acaden¡mic Live among others are collecting great amounts of information and the new national contracts with Thomson (WoK) and possibly Elsevier (Scopus) are increasing the access of the Spanish scholars to the best bibliographic data. There are still some shortcomings including the high level of noise of the search engines, the biases of some of these databases and the still poor coverage of new products like the Web Citation Index but these are problems that can be solved in the future.
