English abstract

In the last five years the Open Archives Initiative has become an academic movement that develops and promotes interoperability standards to facilitate the efficient dissemination of electronic resources and thus generate and promote a communication space for academic institutions. E-LIS is the first international-server about library and information sciences. It's was born from the Research project in Computing, Library and Information Science (RCLIS) and the Documents project in Information Science (DoIS); promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and the Consorzio Interuniversitario Lombardo to per Elaborazione Automatica (CILEA). E-LIS is developed by a voluntary and disinterested team of professionals around the world. E-LIS promotes in this way the Open Access philosophy.

En los últimos cinco años la Open Archives Initiative (Iniciativa de archivos abiertos) se ha constituido como un movimiento académico que desarrolla y promueve estándares de interoperabilidad que pretenden facilitar la diseminación eficiente de acervos de publicaciones electrónicas y así generar un medio para promover la comunicación en las instituciones educativas. Es en este contexto que en el año 2003 se crea el Eprints - Library and Information Science (E-LIS) con el propósito de ser un depósito de documentos especializados en bibliotecología y ciencias de la información. E-LIS es el primer e-servidor internacional en el tema y surge como producto del proyecto Research in Computing, Library and Information Science (RCLIS) y el proyecto Documents in Information Science (DoIS); promovido por el Ministerio Español de Cultura y el Consorzio Interuniversitario Lombardo per Elaborazione Automatica (CILEA). Esta propuesta se basa en el trabajo voluntario y desinteresado de muchos profesionales de amplia trayectoria en el medio alrededor del mundo. E-LIS promueve de esta manera la filosofía del Acceso Abierto (Open Access) haciendo posible el acceso a documentos referidos tanto a LIS como a otros campos relacionados.
