Abstract
One of the key functions of managing information services is mediating between information service providers and the information consumers in the organization. Doing so effectively requires investing time to evaluate the range of service providers and options available as well as continuously assess the changing information needs of the organization. Armed with this dual understanding, librarians can partner effectively with service suppliers and provide feedback to help shape the ongoing product development process. This article provides an overview of the structure and key players of the information industry, plus practical guidance on how to develop an effective voice.
