Abstract

[Italian Abstract]

Print on demand è una nuova frontiera per editori e biblioteche? In Italia decisamente sì.
Per reperire la documentazione necessaria all'analisi esposta in questo mio lavoro mi sono rivolta essenzialmente alle esperienze straniere, in particolare nordiche per l'Europa, ma soprattutto statunitensi per quelle esperienze nelle quali le biblioteche sono figure impegnate attivamente in questo nuovo processo editoriale.
La scarsità di letteratura disponibile su riviste del settore biblioteconomico, non solo a livello europeo ma in generale, mi ha orientato ad un'indagine attenta sulle risorse in rete, quali siti editoriali che offrono servizi Print on Demand, WebConference, interviste a scrittori e autori che utilizzano questo nuovo modello alternativo, articoli su Webzine e soprattutto le relazioni ai workshop del Consiglio d'Europa per l'indagine del contesto europeo.
La presente ricerca ha un approccio da bibliotecari, in quest'ottica cercherò di mettere in luce gli aspetti di interesse più specifico per il mondo delle biblioteche.

Is Print on Demand a new frontier for publishers and libraries? Talking about Italy, the answer is yes. Search on Print on Demand services on the Web based on foreign experiences, such as North European and American ones, where libraries play a crucial role in this new publishing process. As in the journals dealing with librarianship there is no literature concerning Print on Demand, I deeply analized web sources, such as publishing websites that offer Print on Demand services, WebConference, interviews with authors and writers who use PoD, articles on Webzine and, above all, reports of the European Council's workshop on the survey at the European level.
