Nell’ultimo decennio si è assistito a un proliferare dello scambio di materiale elettronico in rete, un fenomeno che
ha coinvolto anche l’ambiente scolastico tramite l’uso sempre più diffuso della posta elettronica e del web. Molte
scuole mantengono un sito, più o meno aperto e collaborativo, ma manca ancora una struttura che consenta il
recupero mirato e coerente del materiale sparso in rete. Le nuove tecnologie degli archivi aperti OAI hanno fornito
l’occasione per aumentare la reperibilità e la visibilità in rete dei prodotti delle scuole, favorendo la collaborazione
attraverso lo scambio e il riuso dei materiali. Il repository BiblioScuole fornisce oggi l’occasione di sperimentare le
nuove tecnologie e trarne profitto a beneficio dell’intera comunità della scuola, profilando un nuovo ruolo per i
bibliotecari scolastici.

During the last decade there has been a proliferation in the exchange of electronic material over the net, a
phenomenon that has included schools, by an ever common use of electronic mail and the web. Many schools have a
website, more or less open and collaborative, but there is the lack of a structure that can allow an aimed and
coherent recovery of the material scattered in the net. The new technologies of open archives OAI have provided the
opportunity to improve the availability and the visibility on the net of what schools produce, therefore supporting
collaboration by the exchange and re-use of materials. The BiblioScuole repository allows today to experiment with
new technologies and to obtain an advantage for the whole schools community, therefore outlining a now role for
school librarians.
