English abstract

Metadata as a universal description approach for digital resources can be thought of an upgrade methodology of bibliographic cataloguing. The author argue that a lot of expertise by library and information science, such as classification, thesaurus and cataloguing, can be valuable input to metadata approaches for the description and organizing of digital resources. It is becoming a formal methodology of digital cataloguing with the help of Ontologies.

本文简要分析了元数据方法作为数字资源描述和组织的一般性方法逐渐发展成熟的历史过程,认为元数据方法与传统图书馆的编目方法有许多相通之处,图书馆学的许多领域知识,如目录学、分类与主题方法、编目实践等为元数据方法提供了坚实的基础,结合近年来计算机领域语义万维网的研究开发进展,如知识本体的应用等,有望为数字资源的组织提供一整套方法论体系。文章最后分析了结合知识本体的元数据方法对于数字资源组织的作用和意义。
