English abstract

This work looks for to determine how it is formed the collection of the Center of Documentation and Information of the Institute Gino Germani (Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina), how it has been evolving in these last 10 years and how it is being used. The knowledge of these data will allow to realise a rational distribution of the resources with which it counts and to be able to make decisions about the discarding from materials, and of the fortification of the promotion directed to the users who not yet take advantage of the CDI. The suitable registry of the consultations and the loans and their later analysis, serve to demonstrate before the authorities of the Institute the use that becomes of the same, and why it is so necessary to obtain economic funds. The evaluation has been carried out by means of the application of statistical techniques. This type of evaluation will allow to know the type used sources more, its frequency of use, and other characteristics that present/display the users in their habits of information. This will allow to detect the strengths and weaknesses of the Center and their evolution through time and thus to be able, among other things, to realise a suitable development of the collections.

Este trabajo busca determinar cómo está formada la colección del Centro de Documentación e Información del Instituto Gino Germani (Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, UBA, Argentina), cómo ha ido evolucionando en estos últimos 10 años y cómo está siendo utilizada. El conocimiento de estos datos permitirá realizar una distribución racional de los recursos con los que cuenta y poder tomar decisiones acerca del descarte de materiales, y del desarrollo o fortalecimiento de la promoción dirigida a los usuarios que aún no aprovechan el CDI. El registro adecuado de las consultas y los préstamos y su posterior análisis, sirve para demostrar ante las autoridades del Instituto el uso que se hace del mismo, y por que es tan necesario conseguir fondos económicos. La evaluación se ha llevado a cabo mediante la aplicación de técnicas estadísticas. Este tipo de evaluación permitirá conocer el tipo de fuentes más utilizadas, su frecuencia de uso, y otras características que presentan los usuarios en sus hábitos de información. Esto permitirá conocer las fortalezas y debilidades del Centro y su evolución a través del tiempo y así poder realizar, entre otras cosas, un adecuado desarrollo de las colecciones.
