English abstract

This contribution is aimed at presenting the Open Access advantages in the perspective of the society, the scholarly communication system, the single researcher and the research institutions or funding bodies. Economic advantages are explored to, in order to quantify the costs/benefits ratio in the shift towards the new Open Access paradigm.

Scopo di questo intervento è evidenziare i molteplici vantaggi che l’Open Access offre per la collettività, per la comunità scientifica, per il singolo ricercatore e per le istituzioni. Quanto ai vantaggi economici, vengono forniti dati sul rapporto costi/benefici nel caso dell’adozione del paradigma Open Access per la comunicazione scientifica.
