English abstract

Background: The often overlooked aspect of research is informing potential beneficiaries/decision-makers about the results. This is particularly important in information science because the results of many researches, especially those relating to the quality assessment of information systems and services, can be used in practice. Purpose: Demonstrating that selection on the stage of research planning beneficiaries and decision-makers in position to change the given slice of reality and subsequent contacting them with the results, can significantly increase value of the research. Methodology: Examples of good and bad practice were shown as well as their consequences. Value: To raise awareness on the issue of research which results might not have been used by potential beneficiaries/decision-makers because of lack of knowledge about them. The proposed method of conducting a research is also useful in promotion of information science and builds its positive image among the representatives of the institutions involved in the research.

Tło: Często pomijanym aspektem prowadzenia badań jest informowanie potencjalnych beneficjentów/decydentów o wynikach. W nauce o informacji jest to szczególne istotne, gdyż rezultaty wielu spośród podejmowanych badań, zwłaszcza tych dotyczących oceny jakości systemów i usług, mogą być zastosowane w praktyce. Cel badań: Wykazanie, że wytypowanie na etapie planowania badania beneficjentów i decydentów mogących zmienić opisywany fragment rzeczywistości oraz późniejsze dotarcie do tych osób z wynikami badań, może w istotny sposób podnieść ich wartość. Metodologia: Przedstawiono dobre i złe przykłady postępowania badawczego wraz z konsekwencjami. Wartość badań: Uwrażliwienie na problem badań, których wyniki mogły, lecz nie zostały wykorzystane przez potencjalnych beneficjentów/decydentów z uwagi na brak wiedzy na ich temat. Zaproponowany sposób prowadzenia badań służy również promocji dyscypliny i buduje jej pozytywny wizerunek u przedstawicieli instytucji, których badania dotyczą.
