English abstract

This article presents the #icanhazpdf hashtag as an exponent of the use of social networks to share scientific papers and its impact on exchange systems and acquisition of articles and scientific journals by academic libraries. It discuss to what extent sharing articles under copyright restrictions can be understood as an act of civil disobedience against the for profit scientific publishing industry.

O presente artigo apresenta a hashtag #icanhazpdf como expoente do uso de redes sociais para compartilhamento de artigos científicos e seu impacto nos sistemas de intercâmbio e aquisição de artigos e periódicos por parte de bibliotecas acadêmicas. Busca discutir em que medida o compartilhamento de artigos sob restrições de direitos autorais pode ser entendido como um ato de desobediência civil contra a indústria de publicação científica com fins lucrativos.
